Somerley, nigh yarmouth, well she wears her name; for here summer can be found among the fine walks and fir trees beset on all sides’
– Sir Thomas Fuller’s The Worthies of England
History
In 1840 Sir Morton Peto, famous for building the Houses of Parliament and Nelson’s Column, happened upon the village of Somerleyton and set about creating a model village – a utopian vision centred on the famous village green including a stately home, marina and 5000 acres of wildlands. Inspired by Peto, Lord and Lady Somerleyton have a fresh vision for the 21st century and are seeking creative and adventurous people to help them create it.
Somerleyton seeks digital nomads, poets, playwrights, small holders, food producers and the active retired to join in this great adventure. Whether you want to rent, build or buy, on water or land, in bricks or wood and whether you wish to come and go or put down roots we would love to hear from you.
