PLEASE NOTE: THE GARDENS ARE CLOSED ON SUNDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER.

The gardens are open to the public Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays.

Opening times: 10.30am – 5pm. 

Last entry is at 3.30pm.

Hall Tours

The Hall is offering tours for up to 15 people on selected days in May, June, July and September. These can only be purchased with entry to the Gardens. 

Garden and Hall Tour combined tickets can be purchased in advance below, and also on the door (subject to availability).

Historic Houses Members
Please note Historic Houses members entry for the gardens is free, Hall tours are payable on the door.

Events

We try and pack the calendar with fun events from our Easter Egg Hunt to our Halloween Pumpkin trail in October half term. Please check our events page below for more information.

Accessibility

Outside Areas
Nearly all areas of the garden are accessible. Some areas will be restricted due to slopes and steps. Please be aware that some of the paths are uneven in places and tricky with small wheeled chairs. Lawns can be used for moving around. Due to the historic nature of the garden we cannot provide full access.

Disabled Facilities
There is an accesible toilet at the top of Gardens.

Dogs
Sorry no dogs allowed except guide/assistance dogs.

Gardens Only Admissions

  • Entry tickets are valid all day from 10.30am and give access to the 12 acres of garden.
  • Open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Mondays
  • Pre-book online below or just turn up on the day and pay at the entrance.
  • April, September and October: Last entry is 2.30pm. gardens close at 4pm.
  • May to August: Last entry is 3.30pm, gardens close at 5pm.
  • Hall tickets are available on the door and online for selected days during May, June, July and September.
  • We politely remind visitors not to bring picnics into the gardens
  • For regular visitors we also offer Season Tickets.
  • Events are priced independently with all visitors requiring a ticket unless stated otherwise.

Discounted entry

  • RHS valid Tuesday and Wednesdays ONLY from May–September when open. (only 1 member free on joint memberships, as stated in RHS handbook. (Cards NOT valid for events/large groups) 
  • HHS members garden only is free with valid card. (cards NOT valid for events or group bookings)
  • Although we have English Heritage listed status, EH members cards are NOT valid as we are not registered as a members property.

Group Bookings & Coaches

We welcome pre-booked groups to the gardens and bookings for 2027 are now being taken. Group bookings are available during our open season. We can arrange guided garden tours with one of the gardens team. We can also arrange Hall tours during the Hall tour season only (usually May, June, July and September) on certain dates (subject to availability).

Garden entry only:

  • Adults £12.95
  • Senior £11.95

In addition to garden entry if required:

  • Hall tours £8.50 per person
  • Guided garden tour £8.50 per person

Terms:

  • Bookings only on days that we are open (currently Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday plus bank holiday Mondays) and only during our open season (March to October)
  • There is a 10% discount for groups of 20 or more. Plus the organiser and coach driver can get in for free.
  • Guided hall and garden tours are charged in addition to garden entry .
  • If you wish for a Hall tour your group may need to be split up if numbers are more than 20.
  • You will be put in contact with the café regarding refreshments.
  • Historic Houses membership and RHS cards are not valid for group bookings.
  • The coach driver is entitled to a free drink in the café.

Somerleyton Tea Room

Opening Times
We are open from 10:30 – 3:30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Sunday Bank holidays and during all events.

Menu
Our menu changes daily offering a selection of sweet and savoury light bites, sausage rolls, toasties, cheese scones, cream teas, cakes and pastries.
